March 8, 2011 Daily Sermon: Bad Influences

Hello my brothers and sisters today we are going to talk about bad influences we have in our lives. You know a bad influence in our life is like a loaded gun waiting to shoot us. God wants to influence us but there are so many things in this world that we are influenced by. Take a moment to look at Matthew 14:1-4:  At that time Herod the tetrarch heard the reports about Jesus,  and he said to his attendants, "This is John the Baptist; he has risen from the dead! That is why miraculous powers are at work in him."   Now Herod had arrested John and bound him and put him in prison because of Herodias, his brother Philip's wife, for John had been saying to him: "It is not lawful for you to have her." Sometimes we get influenced by Music, Movies, People, ETC. We let these things and people determine our actions. I don't care what kind of sin you commit sin is sin. The only influence we should have in our lives is god. If you are not being influenced by god then that means you are being influenced by satan and thats not good. Lets take a moment to look at Matthew 14:5-7: Herod wanted to kill John, but he was afraid of the people, because they considered him a prophet. On Herod's birthday the daughter of Herodias danced for them and pleased Herod so much that he promised with an oath to give her whatever she asked. Sometimes in our lives a person who we trust will come along and tell us to do things that we know are wrong but because they are our so called friend we will do it anyway. God says don't be a follower be a leader. Show that friend how to praise god and read their Bible everyday. We must be influenced only by god. Lets look at Matthew 14:8-10:  Prompted by her mother, she said, "Give me here on a platter the head of John the Baptist." The king was distressed, but because of his oaths and his dinner guests, he ordered that her request be granted and had John beheaded in the prison. Sometimes we can be so influenced by a person, Music, Movies or Etc. It is easy for us to be influenced by someone or something related to that person or thing. Whatever it is that you are being influenced by if it causes you to sin you need to be done with it. God loves you & God Bless. A Message From God Brought To You By As One Ministries.
